Wednesday 12th October

Our final swindle of the season today took place on the Gainsborough course.

With ultra fast greens and a return to damp fairways, the scores were a lot lower than of late.

Monday 14th February

Today's valentines day swindle was a very damp and dreary affair. After the recent deluge, the fairways were extremely wet under foot. This was reflected by the scoring,

Today's winner with 38 points was Martin Brown

Joint 2nd with 35 points were John Williams and Ian Mckay

Joint 3rd with 34 points were Ian Bickers and Graham Vandervord

After last week's improvement,  Robin was disappointed by the slow play again,  this was hopefully a blip !!!!!!

Wednesday 22nd December

A delayed start on a Constable course after a sharp frost. A number of temp tees where 2 foot gimmies were allowed and tap ins on main greens. Todays conditions didn’t seem to challenge John R with an outstanding 47 points - reports indicate that this should have been 50 !!

     1st     John Russell                    47 points

     2nd    Mal Jones                        44 pts

     3rd     John Jardine                   43 pts

A massive thank you to Malcolm N and his booking elves for both master minding the Swindle during 2021 and arranging to book tees - many thanks, very much appreciated. 👏👏👏

Wednesday 15th December

Today’s swindle was played on the Gainsborough course. Despite being wet underfoot on a lot of the fairways, the greens continue to be good quality. Our resident golf machinery guru, Mark Clark, informs me that they’ve all been hand cut. This must have helped the great scoring today

1st place was Tony Carman with 43 points

2nd Martin Brown with 40 points

3rd = both with 38 were Trevor Waterhouse and Alan Finlayson

Wednesday 8th December

Despite the recent deluge, the Constable course was in surprisingly good condition, the greens were excellent. Bunkers were waterlogged and it was decided to declare them GUR.

There were some great scores today but todays winners were :

1st Robert Ogles with 40 points

2nd Robin Owen with 39 points

3rd Brian Willsher with 37 points

Monday 29th November

Today’s swindle was played on the frozen Gainsborough course, this brought us our first taster of temporary greens. On the plus side, this probably contributed to our rounds being a lot quicker. Well done to all for the extra effort.

1st - Roger Fleuty                                       41 points

2nd =  Ian Archer & Mick Henry                   37 pts

3rd =  Alan Finlayson & Mike Stairmand      36 pts

Wednesday 24th November

After today’s frosty start, the greenkeepers worked their magic on Gainsborough to what can only be described as the best November greens we’ve ever played on. Well done chaps.

The highlight of our group today was Shikhar playing his ball from the bunker on 17, the ball sailed over the green and hit the chimney pot on the cottage behind.

Today’s winners were

1st Pete Hele 40 points

2nd = John Gove and Brian Willsher both with 38

4th Rod Harman with 37

Monday 15th November

Today’s swindle was played on the Constable course, the greens were in particularly good condition for the time of year.

Robin Nicholson has ask me to try and make people more aware of their pace of play, 5 hours for a four ball is not acceptable. There are a number of ways to speed up play, ready golf is one and the most obvious one is if you can’t score then you must pick up. You should be up behind the group in front and aim to play each hole in 13 minutes.

Let’s not get our swindle group a bad name

Winners today:

1st      Norman Davidson                  41

2nd     Graham Vandervord              39

3rd      Rogers Davies and Fleuty     37

Wednesday 10th November

Today’s swindle was played on the rather wet Gainsborough course, there was a good turnout for our first of the new season.

Today’s winners were

1st       Paul Sandfield                                          40 points

2nd      Lionel Hatch                                              39 pts

3rd =   Alan Finlayson and John Parkinson        38 pts
